Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool pleasure Beach station 150x150 Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach station (SC)

Blackpool Pleasure Beach station opened in April 1987 and was specifically built to serve the Pleasure Beach, Britain’s most visited theme park with in excess of six million visitors each year. The station is on the site of Burlington Road Halt which opened on 1st October 1913 and was served by a Railmotor service. Burlington Road Halt closed on 1st January 1949.

The station is at the south of Blackpool’s Golden Mile, 100 yards from the main entrance to the Pleasure Beach and close to the Sandcastle, an indoor water adventure park. It is also close to the South Promenade which has recently been upgraded as part of Blackpool’s sea defences and is home to a number of art installations such as the high tide organ.

Some ideas for places to visit and things to do in Blackpool:
Why not sample the thrills of Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, with 100s of rides and attractions to satisfy every family member. Soar to amazing heights and be taken through a whirlwind water experience on Infusion – a thrilling suspended looping coaster where five incredible loops plus a double line twist await you. For the more faint-hearted, try a spin on the beautiful carousel horses, the family-favourite Alice in Wonderland ride or the Chinese maze – or sit back and enjoy a stunning show. Click HERE for more details about the UK’s most popular theme park.
If you love art; or simply enjoy breath-taking views – it’s also worth taking a stroll along South Promenade, where a series of giant artworks reside. Take in the largest mirrorball in the world and ‘Life is a Circus’ designed by pop artist supremo Sir Peter Blake (perhaps better known as the designer of the Beatles’ Sgt Peppers album cover). Take in the area at dusk for an illuminating experience as many of the works come to life through light.
The Solaris Centre, located on the South Promenade is set in four acres of garden and is the first major Blackpool building to integrate a high level of energy-efficient features in its design. The Centre hosts a variety of exhibitions each year and houses a carbon neutral garden, cafe and is set in four acres of green space opposite Blackpool’s iconic mirrorball.
